About Us

The EPSRC and AHRC are jointly funding the Designing for the 21st Century Initiative from 2005 to 2009. During the course of the initiative a number of research calls will be made by both research bodies. The management of these calls will be undertaken through the EPSRC and AHRC offices.

To support the development of the Initiative the EPSRC and AHRC have appointed Professor Tom Inns as Initiative Director. Tom will be undertaking this role on a part-time basis from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, University of Dundee. He will be supported by Vicky Hale, who has been appointed as a part-time co-ordinator.

The Initiative Director will undertake the following tasks:

~ Maintaining an overview of Phase 1 Research Clusters and Phase 2 Research Projects
~ Organising workshops, symposia and conferences to discuss emerging ideas and challenges
~ Collating outcomes from project activity to allow impact assessment of the Initiative as a whole
~ Promoting communication and outreach
