AHRC
Established in April 2005 the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) has an annual budget of more than £75 million. The Council evolved from the Arts and Humanities Research Board, which was founded in 1998. The AHRC have a range of UK-wide programmes supporting the highest quality research and postgraduate training in the arts and humanities.
From around 1500 applications to the seven Research schemes the AHRC make around 550-600 awards. From around 5500 applications to the Postgraduate schemes around 1500 awards are made. In addition, they manage on an agency basis for HEFCE almost £10 million to fund museums, galleries and other collections in English HEIs.
